ICT Power of 3 (PO3) Explained 2026 — Accumulation, Manipulation, Distribution

⚡ Read this before you open your next trade

**Power of 3 (PO3)** is one of ICT's most powerful frameworks for understanding daily price delivery. The thesis: **every trading day follows a 3-phase cycle**: **Phase 1 — Accumulation** (Asian session, ~17:00-23:00 ET previous day, low volatility, building positions). **Phase 2 — Manipulation** (London session, ~02:00-08:00 ET, false move/Judas swing to grab liquidity). **Phase 3 — Distribution** (NY session, ~08:00-16:00 ET, the real move toward institutional targets). PO3 explains why London opens often reverse and why NY trends usually align with Daily/Weekly bias. **For traders**: knowing which phase you're in tells you whether to fade (manipulation) or follow (distribution). This 2026 guide covers: each phase in detail, how to identify PO3 in real-time, daily bias derivation, common bullish vs bearish PO3 patterns, and how to combine with [Silver Bullet](https://takeprofitapp.com/learn/ict-silver-bullet-strategy) + [Take Profit AI](https://takeprofitapp.com) on [Vantage MT5](https://vigco.co/la-com-inv/CE3HlGvG).

Phase 1 — Accumulation (Asian Session)

Time: 17:00-23:00 ET previous day (corresponds to Tokyo/Sydney session). Characteristics: tight range (typically 30-60 pips on EURUSD; 100-200 ticks on NAS100), low volume, low volatility. What's happening: institutional traders in London/NY are sleeping. Asian liquidity providers (banks, market makers) build inventory at predetermined levels. Price often consolidates in a narrow channel called the Asian Range. Trader takeaway: mark the Asian Range high (ARH) and Asian Range low (ARL) on your chart. These become critical liquidity targets for the manipulation phase. Common pattern: price ends Asian session at one end of range (near ARH or ARL) — this often hints at the upcoming manipulation direction. Don't trade Asian session breakouts — they're typically false. Wait for London.

Phase 2 — Manipulation (London Session)

Time: 02:00-08:00 ET (London open + Frankfurt + early London-NY overlap). Characteristics: explosive move, often in OPPOSITE direction to the daily bias. This is the famous Judas Swing or false breakout. What's happening: market makers push price beyond the Asian Range to trigger retail stops clustered above ARH (long stops) or below ARL (short stops). This creates institutional liquidity at favorable prices. Common pattern: bullish day → London pushes price below ARL first, sweeping shorts, then reverses up. Bearish day → London pushes above ARH, sweeping longs, then reverses down. Trader takeaway: don't chase the London move. The first move is usually the manipulation, not the real direction. The real entry signal: after the sweep, watch for displacement back through the broken level + FVG formation. Enter on FVG retest.

Phase 3 — Distribution (NY Session)

Time: 08:00-16:00 ET (US session, with peaks at 09:30 NY open and 10:00-11:00 ET Silver Bullet window). Characteristics: strongest directional move of the day, aligned with daily/weekly bias. What's happening: with retail liquidity collected during London manipulation, institutions can now move price toward predetermined targets without facing opposing flow. Common targets: previous day high (PDH) for bullish days, previous day low (PDL) for bearish days; weekly highs/lows on weekly cycles. Trader takeaway: this is the phase to TRADE WITH the trend. Use Silver Bullet (10:00-11:00 ET) for high-probability entries during distribution. Many traders only trade NY session distribution — skipping Asian/London — because it has highest win rate. Confirmation: if NY session moves in same direction as your Daily/Weekly bias and breaks PDH/PDL — you have full PO3 confirmation.

How to Identify PO3 Daily Bias

Daily bias = expected direction of NY distribution phase. Sources: 1. Higher timeframe trend (Daily/Weekly): if Daily is uptrend with higher highs/higher lows, expect bullish PO3. 2. PD Array proximity: if price is in a discount zone (below daily 50% midpoint) → expect bullish bias. Premium zone (above 50%) → bearish bias. 3. Macro context: dollar weakness day → EURUSD/GBPUSD bullish. Risk-on day → NAS100/SPX bullish, JPY weakness. 4. Take Profit AI bias: Take Profit AI provides AI-derived directional signals for major instruments — use as PO3 daily bias confirmation. 5. Pre-market behavior: where did Asian session close relative to ARH/ARL? Closing near ARL often = bullish bias forming (sellers exhausted in accumulation).

Bullish PO3 Pattern Walkthrough

Example day on EURUSD: Daily uptrend established (Daily HH/HL pattern). 17:00 ET prev day: Asian session opens at 1.0850. Phase 1 (Accumulation, 17:00-23:00 ET): price ranges between 1.0840 (ARL) and 1.0865 (ARH). Closes at 1.0855. Daily bias = bullish (uptrend continuation expected). Phase 2 (Manipulation, 02:00-08:00 ET): London opens 03:00 ET, price drops to 1.0825 — sweeping shorts below ARL. This is the Judas Swing. Watch for reversal. Around 06:00 ET: displacement candle creates bullish FVG between 1.0830-1.0840. Price returns to 1.0835 at 07:30 ET — entry signal. Enter long at 1.0835 with SL at 1.0820 (below sweep low + 5 pip buffer). Phase 3 (Distribution, 08:00-16:00 ET): NY open at 09:30 ET pushes price to 1.0870. Silver Bullet 10:00-11:00 ET continues move to 1.0890. Target: PDH at 1.0895. Hits target at 14:30 ET. R:R: entry 1.0835, SL 1.0820 (15 pip risk), TP 1.0895 (60 pip reward) = 1:4 R:R. Trade math: 1% risk on $10k account = $100 risk → $400 profit.

PO3 + Take Profit AI + Vantage

PO3 framework requires accurate daily bias. Combining with Take Profit AI: 1. Check AI bias for EURUSD/NAS100/XAUUSD before Asian session close. 2. If AI matches your Daily TF analysis → high-confidence PO3 setup ahead. 3. If AI disagrees → expect ranging or non-PO3 day, skip or trade smaller. Execution on Vantage: PO3 trades typically have 1:3 to 1:5 R:R, requiring tight spreads to be profitable. Vantage RAW account (0.10 pip + $6 commission) is ideal — wider spread brokers eat into PO3 R:R math significantly. 150% First-Time Deposit bonus: turn $5k into $12,500 effective trading capital, allowing larger position sizes during high-confidence PO3 setups. Time zone tip: Vantage MT5 server time is GMT+3 (Cyprus) — convert to NY ET for accurate session marking. PO3 phases shift with daylight saving — recalibrate twice yearly.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is ICT Power of 3?

3-phase daily price cycle: (1) Accumulation in Asian session 17:00-23:00 ET — tight range. (2) Manipulation in London session 02:00-08:00 ET — false breakout/Judas swing. (3) Distribution in NY session 08:00-16:00 ET — real directional move. Knowing which phase you're in tells you whether to fade or follow price action.

How to identify PO3 daily bias?

Combine: (1) Higher timeframe trend (Daily/Weekly), (2) Discount/Premium zone position, (3) Macro context (dollar strength, risk-on/off), (4) [Take Profit AI directional signal](https://takeprofitapp.com), (5) Asian session close relative to ARH/ARL. Multi-source confirmation reduces false bias guesses.

Best instruments for PO3?

EURUSD, GBPUSD, NAS100, ES (S&P futures), XAUUSD work best — high volume, clear session structure. Crypto (BTC, ETH) doesn't respect PO3 well (24/7 trading, no clear sessions). Trade EURUSD/NAS100/XAUUSD on [Vantage](https://vigco.co/la-com-inv/CE3HlGvG) RAW account for tightest spreads.

PO3 vs Wyckoff Method?

Similar concepts. Wyckoff: 4 phases (Accumulation, Markup, Distribution, Markdown) over weeks/months. PO3: 3 phases (Accumulation, Manipulation, Distribution) over a single day. ICT PO3 is essentially Wyckoff applied to daily session structure. Both teach: smart money accumulates → manipulates retail → distributes at premium.

Can PO3 fail?

Yes — PO3 is a probabilistic framework, not a guarantee. Failure modes: (1) High-impact news during London/NY (FOMC, NFP, CPI) can override PO3, (2) Pre-holiday low-volume sessions don't show clear PO3, (3) Friday afternoons often have weak distribution phase. Win rate of clean PO3 days: ~65-70%. Skip PO3 trading on news days and Friday afternoons.

How to integrate Take Profit AI with PO3?

[Take Profit AI](https://takeprofitapp.com) provides directional bias for major instruments. Use AI bias as PO3 daily bias confirmation: if AI agrees with your manual analysis → high-confidence trade. If AI disagrees → wait or trade smaller. Combine with [Vantage RAW account](https://vigco.co/la-com-inv/CE3HlGvG) for tight spread execution + 150% bonus.
