ICT Premium and Discount Arrays 2026 — Smart Money Buy/Sell Zones

⚡ Read this before you open your next trade

The **Premium and Discount Array (PD Array)** concept is fundamental to ICT trading — it determines whether smart money is more likely buying or selling at current price. The thesis: **smart money buys at discount (below 50% Fib midpoint of relevant range) and sells at premium (above 50% midpoint)**. Conversely, retail tends to chase momentum — buying at premium (after price has risen) and selling at discount (after price has fallen). By identifying current price's position relative to PD midpoint, you align with smart money positioning. **Application across timeframes**: weekly PD Array (most important for HTF bias), daily PD Array (for intraday entries), session PD Array (for kill zone setups). **Win rate improvement**: trading only in alignment with PD Array (longs in discount, shorts in premium) improves overall ICT setup win rate by 5-8 percentage points. This 2026 guide covers: how to draw PD Arrays, premium/discount zone subdivisions, integration with order blocks/FVG/sweep setups, real examples, and execution on [Vantage MT5](https://vigco.co/la-com-inv/CE3HlGvG) with [Take Profit AI](https://takeprofitapp.com).

Drawing the PD Array

Step 1: Identify the relevant range. Most common: weekly range (last week's high to low) for HTF bias, daily range (yesterday's high to low) for intraday, session range (London or NY range) for short-term. Step 2: Open Fibonacci retracement tool. Draw from RANGE LOW (0%) to RANGE HIGH (100%). The 50% level = PD midpoint. Step 3: Identify zones: BELOW 50% = Discount zone (smart money territory for buys). ABOVE 50% = Premium zone (smart money territory for sells). Step 4 (refinement): Subdivide further. Discount: 0-25% = Deep Discount (highest-conviction long), 25-50% = Mid Discount. Premium: 50-75% = Mid Premium, 75-100% = Deep Premium (highest-conviction short). Step 5: Apply to current price. If price at 35% (Mid Discount) and HTF bias bullish = ideal long zone. If price at 80% (Deep Premium) and HTF bias bearish = ideal short zone. Important: redraw PD Array each time the range changes (new weekly high/low, new daily high/low, etc.).

Premium/Discount + Smart Money Logic

Why smart money buys at discount and sells at premium: institutions need favorable entry/exit prices to profit consistently on huge position sizes. Buying at deep discount (close to range low) means low downside risk + high upside potential. Selling at deep premium (close to range high) means low upside risk + high downside potential. Retail does opposite: chases momentum, buys high (after rallies), sells low (after declines) — creating the counter-party for smart money's discount buys / premium sells. Trading implication: align long entries with discount zones (especially Deep Discount 0-25%); align short entries with premium zones (especially Deep Premium 75-100%). Avoid: longs in premium (chasing), shorts in discount (knife catching). Multi-TF combination: HTF discount (weekly PD Array) + LTF discount (daily PD Array) = highest-conviction long entry. Mirror for shorts. Don't fight smart money: if HTF strongly bullish and price in deep discount = high-probability long entry zone. If you go short here, you're fading institutional buying.

Combining PD Array with Other ICT Setups

PD Array + Order Block: bullish OB in discount zone = highest-conviction long setup. Bearish OB in premium zone = highest-conviction short setup. OBs in opposite zone (bullish OB in premium, bearish OB in discount) = lower probability. PD Array + FVG: bullish FVG in discount = strong long target. Bearish FVG in premium = strong short target. FVGs in opposite zone act as resistance/support but lower conviction setups. PD Array + Sweep and Reverse: SSL sweep in deep discount + bullish rejection = exceptional long entry (smart money buying discount + reversal confirmation). BSL sweep in deep premium + bearish rejection = exceptional short. PD Array + OTE: OTE entry zone (Fib 62-79% retracement of impulse) often coincides with discount of larger range. Multiple Fib confluence = stronger setup. PD Array + Killzone: London Open Sweep and Reverse in discount = bullish bias confirmation. NY Open Sweep and Reverse in premium = bearish bias confirmation. All combined: HTF discount + LTF Sweep and Reverse + Order Block at sweep + Take Profit AI bullish = ~85% win rate setup.

⚠️ Mistake most traders make

Reading about trading is not enough. Traders who practice in real time — tracking signals, analyzing their trades, and learning from results — improve 3x faster. In the Take Profit app, you can do this right away.

Real PD Array Example (Bullish EURUSD)

Setup analysis: Monday weekly range 1.0820-1.0890 (70 pips). PD midpoint = 1.0855. Tuesday morning, price drops to 1.0830 (Deep Discount, 14% of range). HTF bias: Daily uptrend, weekly profile bullish. Asian close at 1.0840 (near ARL). Take Profit AI bias: BULLISH on EURUSD. PD Array signal: deep discount + bullish HTF = ideal long zone. Trigger: 03:30 ET (London Open Kill Zone), price sweeps below 1.0828 (PWL) by 8 pips to 1.0820. Bullish engulfing candle forms, closing back above 1.0828. Entry: long at 1.0830 (engulfing close). SL: 1.0816 (below sweep + 4 pip buffer). Risk: 14 pips. TP1: PD midpoint 1.0855 (1.78 R:R, take 50%). TP2: PWH 1.0890 (4.28 R:R, take 30%). TP3: weekly extension target 1.0915 (6.07 R:R, trail 20%). Outcome: Price hit TP1 within 90 minutes (London momentum), TP2 within 4 hours (NY follow-through), TP3 by Wednesday close. Total trade R:R: 1:4.3. Win factors: deep discount PD + sweep + AI bias all aligned = ~80% win rate scenario.

Common PD Array Mistakes

Mistake 1: Wrong range selection. Use weekly for HTF bias, daily for intraday. Don't use random swing highs/lows — they don't represent institutional reference points. Mistake 2: Trading discount/premium without HTF bias. Long in discount = ideal IF HTF bullish. Long in discount during HTF downtrend = catching falling knife. Always combine PD Array with HTF bias direction. Mistake 3: Ignoring multi-TF context. Daily discount inside weekly premium = mixed signal, lower conviction. Daily discount inside weekly discount = highest conviction long. Mistake 4: Trading without trigger. PD Array tells you ZONE; you still need entry trigger (sweep, OB confirmation, FVG fill, AI bias signal). Don't blind enter at 25% Fib without confirmation. Mistake 5: Not redrawing range. PD Array changes when range changes. Wednesday's PD might differ from Monday's if range expanded. Update daily/weekly. Mistake 6: Trading shallow discount/premium. 40-60% zone = neutral, low conviction. Wait for deep discount (0-25%) or deep premium (75-100%) for highest probability.

PD Array Workflow on Vantage

Optimal PD Array workflow: 1. Sunday evening / Monday pre-market: Draw weekly PD Array on H4 chart for each instrument using Vantage TradingView Web Trader. Mark Deep Discount (0-25%), Mid Discount (25-50%), Mid Premium (50-75%), Deep Premium (75-100%) zones. 2. Daily pre-market: Update daily PD Array on H1. Note current price's PD position (deep discount, mid discount, etc.). 3. Combine with HTF bias: HTF bullish + price in discount = look for long setups. HTF bearish + price in premium = look for short setups. Mismatched = lower conviction. 4. Wait for entry trigger: PD Array tells you ZONE; trigger requires Sweep and Reverse, OB confirmation, FVG fill, or Take Profit AI bias signal. 5. Execute on Vantage MT5: enter at trigger. SL based on trigger structure. TP1 at PD midpoint, TP2 at opposite extreme, TP3 at extension. Vantage RAW account ($6 round-turn, 0.10 pip raw) optimal for tight PD-aligned setups. 150% First-Time Deposit bonus: $5k → $12,500 effective for larger position sizes on highest-conviction PD + multi-confluence setups.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is ICT Premium and Discount Array?

PD Array uses 50% Fibonacci midpoint of relevant range to identify smart money buy/sell zones. Below 50% = Discount (smart money buys here). Above 50% = Premium (smart money sells here). Subdivisions: Deep Discount (0-25%), Mid Discount (25-50%), Mid Premium (50-75%), Deep Premium (75-100%). Aligning entries with PD Array improves ICT setup win rate by 5-8 percentage points.

Which range to use for PD Array?

Weekly range (last week's high to low) for HTF bias. Daily range (yesterday's high to low) for intraday entries. Session range (London or NY range) for short-term setups. Multi-TF approach: weekly PD Array sets bias direction, daily PD Array refines entry zones, session PD Array fine-tunes execution.

Why does smart money buy at discount?

Institutions need favorable entry prices to profit on huge position sizes. Buying at deep discount = low downside risk + high upside potential. Selling at deep premium = low upside risk + high downside potential. Retail does opposite (chases momentum), creating the counter-party for smart money's discount buys / premium sells.

Best PD Array confluence setups?

Deep Discount + bullish OB + bullish HTF bias + [Take Profit AI bullish](https://takeprofitapp.com) = ~85% win rate long setup. Deep Premium + bearish OB + bearish HTF bias + AI bearish = ~85% win rate short setup. Sweep and Reverse setups in deep discount/premium zones particularly high probability.

How often to redraw PD Array?

Weekly PD: redraw Monday morning when new weekly range starts forming, or anytime weekly high/low updates. Daily PD: redraw each morning before London Open. Session PD: redraw at start of each session. Whenever range expands (new high or low), update PD Array immediately — old midpoint becomes invalid.

Trade only in deep zones or all zones?

Focus on deep zones (0-25% Deep Discount, 75-100% Deep Premium) for highest conviction. Mid zones (25-50% Mid Discount, 50-75% Mid Premium) lower conviction but tradeable with strong other confluences. 40-60% range = neutral, generally skip unless multiple non-PD confluences present (sweep + OB + AI bias).
